Check emails, Rss feeds, news, google alerts, linkedin, facebook messages

you get my drift ….

No wonder we fill lost in translation or better said: lost in Cyberinformation.

So what is the solution ?

A while ago, I was learning how to Day Trade and I came accross a book of a guy who made a killing in the stock exchange in the 60’s.

The guy was a dancer and had to perform all over the world, when Interne, faxes and cell phones did not exist. Instead he relied on a weekly newspaper and sent his buy or sell order per telex ! He made such a killing that the New York stock exchange changed its way of trading after him.

His name is Nicolas Darvas and he wrote a fantastic book about his method.

Why am I now talking about Mr. Darvas ?

Because he applied THE solution: he cut all the NOISE (broker advice, friends advice, overinformation etc…). As a result he stopped losing money and made it big.

Aren’t we all submerged with too much Noise ? Too many latest things, trends etc… I mean think about it: 2004 was google adwords year, 2005 was adsense craze, 2006 was RSS, 2007 was videos, tags, social networking, 2008 is widgets, mash ups, webservices etc…

Shall we create our own info product ? Make widgets, Do direct PPC camapigns or landing pages ?  Is article writing dead or still alive ? Are all the niche taken ? Is our competition too strong ?

STOP IT !

Let us concentrate on one thing and finish it before moving to the next one. Disciplin and self contol is the key: like a good Trader, we must learn to cut our losses and get out of a position in time.

Let’s start and keep the ball rolling. Only by FOCUSING will we be truly succesful.

Of course it is not that simple: because next to Disciplene and Time management, we need a couple of other things… like….

A strong Desire
A Goal
A Plan (who said a Method ?)
the above mentioned Ironed Discipline
Patience
Persistence
Dedication ….. (and they said affiliate marketing was fun dude ?)

A French guy living in Germany and talking about discipline, I start to wonder if my environment is not influencing a bit….
